Interactive Process with Social Support System During a Divorcing Marriage

碩士 === 中國文化大學 === 心理輔導學系 === 106 === The study explored the interactive process between the divorcing women and the social support system during a divorcing marriage. Meanwhile, the study tried to understand the positive experience during the interactive process. By purposive sampling, three participants who are all female, aged 30-39 and married under 10 years were invited to this study. The researcher conducted semi-structured in-depth interview with the three participants and adopts qualitative method, narrative inquiry method and “holistic-content” analysis method. The results are as follows. The interactive process between the divorcing women and the social support system during a divorcing marriage consisted of five stages: Surface-harmony stage, Conflict-increased stage, High pressure transformation stage, Creative-growth stage, Meta-reflection stage. The seven features of the interactive process includes: the hypothetical cycle of the five stages, the backwards between stages to work through stage missions, benefits of multiple social support system, positive and negative influence from psychotherapy, the positive effect of single parent’s original family, more difficulties for those divorcing women who have children, self-improvement from interpersonal relationship challenges. The study shows the five-stage interactive process can be forward or backward. Based on the result, this study provides constructive suggestions to divorcing individuals and their social support system, counseling psychologist and also for the future researches.
