Most of people’s working place may not be near to their home and left their parent at home alone. Nowadays, smart phone is an ordinary communication device, however, the parent (senior citizen) facing the memories and behavior devolution, the smart phone using is another big problem. For example, keying the phone number or operating the smart phone is a difficult thing for them if they want to make a phone call to their children or friends. Also, the senior citizen activity become duller and if they want to use the home appliances they will go to the switchgears to start their appliances, that is easy to cause the falling down.
In order to solve the above problems, this paper proposes a smart homecare system. In this system, a wrist-style walkie-talkie with wireless transmission, a falling down detection and voice control are involved. Senior citizen can use the simple operation mode with a microphone to send the voice message to the voice receiving and transmitting terminal through the microprocessor (Arduino). The voice receiving and transmitting terminal judges the voice message as to control the home appliance or talk to their children by itself. If a conversation is detected, the voice message is transmitted to the voice server. Then voice message is conducted to smartphone App immediately in which the App is connected to voice server.
In the event of a falling down detection, the microprocessor will also inform the voice receiving transmitter, voice receiver then sends the falling down information immediately to their children's smartphones to warn the falling event.
Because the elder sensitivity and cognitive are gradually degraded. The proposed system provided the voice controlling for home appliances to avoid elders looking for remote control box or go-back to the control switch to reduce falling down and other accidents.
