Therefore, the wire and cable industry has always been a basic industry highly valued by countries committed to its development. Said industry is also a traditional industry that is technology, capital, and labor intensive. Many countries have taken measures to protect their wire and cable industry, which makes it difficult for foreign-invested enterprises to enter their markets. In recent years, public works and other infrastructures in Vietnam have grown vigorously, and this brings great opportunities to foreign-invested wire and cable companies because Vietnam lacks the requisite funds and technology. However, although the demand is still greater than supply in the Vietnam market, wire and cable companies have to consider how to face the rapid changes and competition in the market, in order to develop their own competitive advantages with differentiation, since the wire and cable industry is already in the mature stage of the product life cycle. This research aims to provide wire and cable companies with specific suggestions and highly practical development strategies for their businesses in Vietnam. This research adopts the Nine Components of the Business Model Canvas proposed by Osterwalder and Pigneur (2010). Appropriate suggestions for adjustments to A Company’s business model are proposed via an analysis of the data collected from interviews with senior executives in A Company related to the internal operations and external market. It is hoped that the research results will help A Company break away from the traditional business model and increase its industrial competitiveness with limited resources, in order to achieve its objective of sustainable operations.
