碩士 === 國立臺灣科技大學 === 高階科技研發碩士學位學程 === 106 === The functionality of a connector in electronic device varies with the purpose it serves, the connector is designed to interface with specific buses at all time, such as USB, HDMI bus or power jack. As the rapid development of high-speed transmission technique, particularly the USB type-C proposed by USB-IF, which can transfer up to very high speed data、audio、video and even large current power delivery. The impact USB type-C ignites in the connector industry and market will be huge. The paper is a study on development trend of electronic I/O connector, the possible future application of connector in various electronic industries and analysis of connector application to be broaden beyond hand-held device and computers. In addition, the study also covers the analysis of company core competency, competitor’s strategy, and use of analytical data to conclude the future product roadmap of the company. Company A is a remarkable and dedicated I/O connector company with diversified product portfolio. It is one of few companies capable of providing complete connector solution. The goal of the paper is to provide the company next 3 to 5 years product and technology roadmap through the rigorous study. It is expected to serve a guidance to consolidate and plan the company internal resource efficiency and invest on core and strategic products effectively, thus to maximize the investment return and achieve sustainable company growth.
