Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺灣科技大學 === 高階科技研發碩士學位學程 === 106 === USB-IF released the USB Type-C 1.0 specification in August 2014. USB Type-C is the hardware interface form of Universal Serial Bus. The upper and lower pin assignments are the same. Compared with the current USB Type A or Micro USB, this means that the user does not need to distinguish the USB connector direction. Mobile devices with USB Type-C interface can use mobile phone internal control chips to implement flippable insertion, high-speed data transmission, fast battery charging, and digital or analog audio output functions.
In the first half of 2016, the China mobile phone company launched the first smart phone with the USB Type-C interface. After that, other Type-C smart phones were also launched on the market. Another reason for accelerating the popularization of Type-C is that it comes from the European Union's mandatory specifications. The European Parliament will require that radio equipment sold in the EU be forced to adopt a unified standard charger, including the most important mobile phone. The Type-C interface connector is already the mainstream of the future.
This study believes that replacing the current USB Type-A and Micro-USB interface with the Type-C interface will be the main trend in the future. The unification of the transmission interface standards will create many new control chip opportunities and change the use of mobile device interface. According to the Type-C interface definition and specifications, new opportunities will include high-speed switching IC, high-speed re-driver IC, fast-charging IC, and audio switching IC. With new market demand and standards, new analog technology will be developed. Therefore, an effective analysis and technology roadmap planning will help to the operation and resource plan of case department. A good technology plan will help case department to find trends in a highly competitive market, and gradually invest in related technology research and product development, and achieve sustainable development goals.
