In the following two years, the effects of using SD 690 steel as longitudinal reinforcement and SD 790 steel as transverse reinforcement will be studied. The test variables of the beam specimens in this year were the longitudinal reinforcement ratio, prestress level (non-prestressed or partially prestressed), and types of longitudinal reinforcement (all steel strands or partial strands and partial deformed bars). The control beam specimens were conventional reinforced concrete beams. There were in total nine specimens. For all the specimens, the span was 8 m and the cross section was 70 cm in height and 40 cm in width. The main objective of the testing was to observe the crack width under service loads and the strength at the ultimate condition. At the time of this writing, specimen design has been completed and steel formwork for specimen manufacturing have been made. It is estimated that the specimen fabrication can be completed by the end of July and testing of the specimens can be finished by the end of September.
