碩士 === 國立臺灣科技大學 === 企業管理系 === 106 === This study mainly investigates the determinants of the operational performance of dental clinics in Taiwan during the period from 1998 to 2012. The study utilizes a panel data regression model and employs the Breusch-Pagan LM test, the Hausman test and the Hausman-Taylor Over-identification test in order to choose the appropriate empirical method. This study analyzes the total amount of the relative-value units (RVUs) to measure the operational performance of a dental clinic. The empirical results provide several key findings as follows. First, both internal factors (number of outpatient cases, number of medical personnel and years open) and external factors (household income, aging index, the unemployment rate and number of other medical institutions) have a significant impact on the operational performance of dental clinics. Second, the revenue of a dental clinic will be eroded by other homogeneous medical institutions and medical personnel in the same region. Finally, there will be differences in the operational performance of dental clinics between urban and rural areas, which might be because of the gap in health care information and resources.
