Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺灣藝術大學 === 書畫藝術學系 === 106 === Compared with Western painting, Chinese painting has its observant qualities
with regard to its aesthetic influence from literati thinking, its religious and philosophical insights into the realization of natural phenomena, and its unique artistic representations of mountains, water, trees and rocks. In this thesis, in addition to focusing on painting’s atmosphere, I attempt to integrate the micro observations of trees and rocks into my paintings based on the traditional Chinese ink painting skills in order to develop my own artistic style.
It is widely believed that the transitions of natural phenomena correlate with the changes of human emotions, which supports the idea that people’s reflection and creation of art pieces strongly interact with each other. In this thesis, with the hope to enhance the form of art presentation, my paintings focus on the notion of “Natural Traces, Transformation, and Tree and Rock Symbols” to study the evolution of the rock lines as well as the appearance of trees and rocks.
The thesis consists of five chapters. The first chapter of the thesis introduces my research motive, purpose and method. The second chapter focuses on the literature review and theoretical analysis of plant ecology and attributes, various rock features and painting methodologies of rocks and trees. The third chapter displays the realization of my art works following the notion of “Natural Traces, Transformation, and Tree and Rock Symbols”. The forth chapter analyzes the concept behind these works. The fifth chapter concludes the thesis and provides further reflection and prospect. In particular, with the aim to strengthening the creative practices in the thesis and developing the creative approach to my works, I clarify my painting process and material collection in chapter three and study my series of works on different levels from the whole series to the individual pieces of my works in chapter four.
