碩士 === 國立臺灣藝術大學 === 戲劇學系 === 106 === The purpose of this study is to reinterpret the characters in the musical “Forever Love” from the perspective of liberal feminism, investigating the factors associated with the development of feminist consciousness in Taiwanese women, and the roles that the society and culture played in the process. In our research, we first discussed the definition of liberal feminism and its origins, development, and related meanings in the context of Taiwan. The method to carry out this study was using the text analysis to outline the storyline of the musical “Forever Love”. Then, we executed in-depth interviews to collect the views of the director and three actors on the development of female consciousness in the play. According to the content analysis method, we adopted the responses of each interviewee as the basis; and offered our analysis and account to capture the development of women’s consciousness in the traditional society. Finally, we considered the role of the “Forever Love” in the play as the subject of discussion. From the liberal feminism viewpoint as the horizontal axis, we took on the development course of the female consciousness as observed by the four interviewees, the background, and the connotation and the impact on individuals as the longitudinal axis to analyze the sorrow of women hidden under the times by characterization and fatality of the characters in the script. This study explored the bitterness of traditional Taiwanese women in social identity and the pursuit of self-recognition and attended to the issues related to women and provides conclusions and suggestions.
