The suite contains six pieces of program music in two sets, showing the cultural phenomenon of the Spanish society. This dissertation begins with the compositional background of Goyescas, revealing the relationship between paintings of Goya and music of Granados, then discusses the compositional practices, musical structures and materials of the last two pieces in the suite, El amory la muertre : Balada and Epilogo: Serenata del espectro. There would be in addition a discussion of the musical themes adopted form the first four pieces in El amory la muetre: Balada. A general interpretation is followed by performing skills corresponding to each pieces. The study divided into five chapters. The first one introduces the aim and methods of this study together with a literature review. The following chapter is a study of backgrounds related to the suite, Goyescas. The third and the fourth chapter focus on El amory la muertre: Balada and Epilogo: Serenata del espectro, studying the compositional background, melodic materials and musical structure which are followed by a musical analysis and a suggestion of interpretation.
