Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺灣大學 === 臺大-復旦EMBA境外專班 === 106 === The application of 3D printing technology is quite extensive. Its rapid molding and manufacturing flexibility can produce complex curves and facets, and has exceeded the traditional processing and manufacturing limits. The additive manufacturing methods of accumulated layers can avoid the waste produced by traditional cutting subtractive manufacturing methods that cause environmental pollution, and the one-shot molding can reduce the time and cost of assembly. It belongs to the range of green design and green processing, having a considerable manufacturing molded advantages. It is generally called the third industrial revolution. On the other side, the dental industry has developed rapidly in the world because of its gradual integration with aesthetic medicine and plastic surgery, plus new technologies, new equipment, and new treatments. The design and manufacturing of dental restoration components and auxiliary products are customized, and therefore is quite suitable for applying three-dimensional digital impression taking and printing technology. The dental industry is closely related to human health. The industry has developed rapidly in the world because of its gradual integration with aesthetic medicine and plastic surgery, plus new technologies, new equipment, and new treatments. The design and manufacturing of dental restoration components and auxiliary products are customized, and therefore it is quite suitable for applying three-dimensional digital impression taking and printing technology. It is necessary to do further research to explore business opportunities of applying 3D printing technology in the dental industry field. The present research undertakes a case research approach to study how a newly established 3D printing company who has professional machines and materials technologies chooses to enter into the digital dentistry industry. This study hopes to understand the international competition status of Taiwanese companies in the field of 3D printing by collecting global market intelligence and future trends, and then analyzing the 3D printing technology and industry trends, arranging existing and potential dental 3D printing industry, and eventually proposing suggestions concerning entry strategies. Our research found that the 3D printing related industries are continuing to expand its application scope and are also important to the development of dental digitalization. For the case company, it is recommended to select the “materials" sector and adopt a focused strategy. In the initial stage, the case company can undertake overall cost leadership strategy which is used to counter European and American brands. When Asian companies gradually emerged, then undertakes a differentiation strategy. In the future, the "processing service" industry will be used as the second growth curve for the company. Implications and suggestions for future development are also provided.
