碩士 === 國立臺灣大學 === 心理學研究所 === 106 === Daily social interactions between the Hui and Han minzu (officially referred to as “the ethnic group in China”) are quite normal and inevitable. As such, it is essential for us to understand how certain Hui individuals conceptualize the social interaction and conflict with Hans. The preliminary aim of the study is to analyze in-depth the experience of social interaction and conflict for Hui individuals with Hans, in order to examine the psychological processes and motivation of Hui individuals when interacting with Hans. The researcher conducted six in-depth interviews with Hui people. Results indicate that Hui individuals share a clear sense of ethnic identity of the Hui minzu and a strong faith in the Islamic religion, while they do not regard the interaction and conflict with Han individuals as "interaction among different ethnic groups", or "us vs. them". Instead, they regard such interactions as just another type of private social interactions.
