In recent years, numerous cities started to develop their transit and bike infrastructures to provide alternative transportation solutions for their residents. The integration between bike and mass rapid transit systems have a further contribution to reduce the use of cars by improving the accessibility of public transportation. In order to make the integration successful between bikes and mass transit, it is important to implement bike-friendly environment at the transit stations and at the surrounding areas. However, solely following the international bike infrastructure guidelines may result a gap between the supply and the local users’ demand. On the other hand, only focusing on the local users’ requirements without utilizing the recommendations of the international design guidebooks may also lead to weak infrastructure design. This research aims to provide a bridge between the international guideline and the local user-driven infrastructure development by applying the ordered logit model combined with fundamental design strategies. The methodology was applied to the Taipei Metropolitan Area in Taiwan. First, framework for evaluation of the bike-transit integration is developed based on international guidelines. Then, a survey is conducted to explore factors that have influence on users’ willingness to bike to station and then determine and rank the users’ preference on the cycling infrastructures with the highest contribution on bike-transit integration. Finally, the study proposes a new design for the facilities in the selected stations based on the local users preferences and the recommendations of the international guidelines. S.K.
