| Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺東大學 === 華語文學系碩士班 === 106 === Yufen Ke rose and took notice in the literary world since the 90’s, and many of her essays and literature pieces have been welcomed by many readers. Earlier on, Ke was known as one of the authors of women’s prose in the metropolis; yet, Ke’s style
of prose took steps in multiple areas in the society. Ke’s words drew pictures of the unfamiliar people, things and items of the streets and shops and the minds of each people, things or items. Recently, Ke redirected her focus towards Taitung, her hometown, wrote about her childhood and her memories of her hometown. Ever since her third publication, Ke’s style of prose turned from a touch of intellectuality to a
touch of sensibility. However, being affected by her background in academic study as
well as her character, Ke’s works were in many ways differ from the common prose, rather her work has developed into a new style of prose.
Yufen Ke’s unique style of prose gained much attention and favors from the critics of the literary world. The focus of this research will not only cover Ke’ supbringing and experiences which made her who she is today. It focuses on her works
and the reason why she chooses topics to understand the direction of her prose style. Through rhetorical analysis, the research will also examine the Ke’s style and how it stands out amongst others, specifically how Ke had altered the way a statement is presented as well as descriptive writing style. This research will assist in further understanding of Ke’s writing to those who may be interested.
