The purposes of this study are (1) to study the relative key factors in evaluating Taiwan listed information technology firms; (2) to investigate the performance grouping accuracy of Taiwan listed information technology firms; (3) to examine whether there are significant differences in key factors among different groups; (4) to compare the performance evaluation rankings of Taiwan listed information technology firms. The paper uses factor analysis to extract four key factors, which are safety index (F1), profitability index (F2), capital turnover index (F3) and growth potential index (F4). By using cluster analysis, discriminant analysis and other statistical methods, the performance evaluation model of Taiwan listed information technology firms are established. The conclusions are as follows: (1) Four key factors’ cumulative explanatory power is 70.09%. Four groups with the best statistical effects were derived by cluster analysis. (2) The overall model predictive accuracy is 94.16% by using discriminant analysis, indicating the model has high predictive capability. (3) By using general linear model (GLM) shows that there are highly significant differences in four key factors among four different groups. (4) This study ranks the performance of 20 Taiwan listed information technology firms during 2015 to 2017. The research results could provide early problem detection for information technology firms, so that in-depth investigation and adjusted solutions could be made.
