The purpose of this study is investigate the effect of general education courses on students’ educational achievement. The Ordinary Least Square Estimation is adopted for our analysis. We estimate the effect by controlling the family background, the previous year's professional subject grades, gender, several fixed-effects, as well as grade-level interaction items. The result is that the general education courses have a positive impact on the professional subjects of economics when students are at their freshman and sophomore years, but it is negative at their junior year. At their senior year, the impact is still positive, yet insignificant--but less than at their freshman and sophomore years.
