Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺北大學 === 會計學系 === 106 === The purposes of preparing the financial statements are to provide the information which reflect the company's financial position and operating results, and to assist the users of financial statements to make proper decisions. Financial information transparency is an important cornerstone of capital market development. The financial restatements represent the ex post confirmation of the misstatements that those reports have been audited and attested by the certified public accountants (CPAs). Therefore the audit quality of the CPAs has affected the quality of the company's financial statements. This study takes the social network perspective, and quantifies the signings networks between the dual attestation systems to examine their relation to the financial restatements. Using a sample of publicly traded companies that were audited by the Big Four in Taiwan during 2009 - 2014, logistic regression analysis was used to verify the hypothesis. The empirical results show that the jointly attested social network of engagement partner as well as engagement partner and concurring auditors is negatively correlated with the possibility of financial restatements; consistent with expectations, but none of them has reached a traditional significant level. Therefore, the results do not support the hypotheses that the jointly attested social network of CPAs has effects on financial restatement.
