Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺北大學 === 犯罪學研究所 === 106 === Limited studies have discussed about the sex differences and age trends with the different forms of bullying used. Using the method of stratified sampling, 5741 students from grade 5 to 12 around Taiwan completed a survey to study their bullying experience. Gender difference in the form of bullying used is analyzed by Chi-square. Out of 5741 respondents, 1709 (29.6%) students reported having bullied their classmates in the previous semester. Verbal bully is the most widely used form. The prevalence rate of using verbal and physical bullying is higher among males than females. Logistic regression shows that male gender is a significant predictor of physical and verbal forms of bullying. Students studying in middle school are more likely to use verbal and relational bullying than those studying in primary school, while those studying in high school are less likely to use all three forms of bullying than those studying in middle school. Among those who bullied, those studying in high school are less likely to use multiple forms of bullying than those studying in middle school, which is indifferent from those studying primary school. The odds of male students using the different bullying forms was higher in middle school when compared to that in Primary school, while that for female student in Middle school using less than that in Primary school. The probability for male student in Middle school using multiple forms of bullying was more when compared to that in Primary school, while that for female student in Middle school using less than that in Primary school. Explanation of results is discussed in terms of childhood development during school period. Recommendations to increase the effectiveness of anti-bullying programs in Taiwan are made based on the findings of this study.
