Therefore, the purpose of this study is to understand whether people who have relatively low levels of avoidant and anxiety attachment in romentic relationship can be more concerned about and help others. In this study, adult attachment theory as a framework for the study of romentic relationship. This study focus on the prediction of prosocial behavior based on attachment in romentic relationship, and empathy as the mediator variable of prosocial behavior. In this study, “Experiences in Close Relationships”, “Prosocail Tendency Measure” and “Interpersonal Reactivity Index” as measuring tools to Taiwan unmarried couples who are in romentic relationship. The researcher used convenience sampling to select, and 578 effective samples were obtained through the Internet. The main findings of this study are: 1. According to the result of multidimensional scaling, the study named the two axes of this Cartesian coordinate system as "others-self-oriented" and "active-passive" and divided them into "altruism", "anonymous", "compliant" and "public”. This indicates that the PTM reconstructed in this study has good validity. 2. There is mediating effect of “sympathy” as empathy mechanism between “avoidant attachment” and the situation of “others-oriented” and “nature-is-so” prosocial behaviors. 3. There is partial mediating effect of “personal distress” as empathy mechanism between “anxiety attachment” and the situation of “self-oriented” and “Culture-teached” prosocial behaviors. 4. There is mediating effect of “perspective taking” as empathy mechanism between “anxiety attachment” and the situation of “self-oriented” and “nature-is-so” prosocial behaviors. 5. Under the influence of Chinese culture, attachment behaviors in romantic relationship may have different predictive paths for social behavior. Avoidant attachment behavior still shows significant predictive effect on the altruistic nature and sympathy. The prediction of "others-self-oriented" prosocial behavior from anxiety attachment is restrained by Chinese people's regulation of interpersonal behavior and control of emotional strategies. This study again tests empathy as an important predictor of prosocial behavior, and empathy-altruism hypothesis and empathy-distress distinction are statistically significant. Based on the above research findings, the present study further presents the discussion and provides suggestions for cousuling practitioner and future research directions.
