Survey method was adopted in this study. Of the total 360 questionnaires issued, 343 were returned (95.3%). The research instruments included: “Personal Profile”, “Lifelong Learning Participation”, “Scale of Self-Esteem”, and “Scale of Life Satisfaction”. Descriptive statistics, one-way analysis of variance, Chi-square test, Spearman's rank correlation coefficient, Pearson product-moment correlation, and multiple stepwise regression analysis were employed to analyze the statistical data. Statistical analysis yielded the following results: 1.Ten variables (gender, age, marital status, educational background, monthly income, major sources of income, living arrangement, place of residence, health status and working status) were significantly related to learning participation. 2.Nine variables (gender, age, marital status, educational background, monthly income, major sources of income, place of residence, health status and working status) were significantly related to self-esteem. 3.Six variables (gender, age, monthly income, major sources of income, living status and health status) were significantly related to life satisfaction. 4.The life satisfaction and self-esteem of older adults who participated in learning were higher than who didn't. 5.There was a positive relationship between leanring participation, self-esteem, and life satisfaction of older adults.. 6.The life satisfaction of older adults is able to be predicted by personal variables, learning participation and self-esteem; speficially, learning participation is the best predictor of it.
