碩士 === 國立臺南大學 === 體育學系碩士在職專班 === 106 === The purpose of this study was to explore the mentality of retired national table tennis players converting from the end of their athletic career into coaches. In this study, we invited 4 subjects to receive formal interviews. Through semi-structured in-depth interviews, we collected the the mentality of retired national table tennis players when/after converting into coaches. The results of this study showed that the retired national table tennis players are happy, full of stability and self-confidence, their ambition was clear, and most of them did not consider other career types. After converting into coaches, they keep on learning and growing in terms of career, become more patient and have more responsibility, learn to open their mind, be willing to communicate, and feel positive. On the whole, the speed converting into coaches was very fast. They would not want to change jobs as well, showing that they all love their current coaching work.
