The methodologies adopted in this study was questionnaire survey. The research tool was the questionnaire of〝The Study on Elementary Teachers’ Cognitions and Attitudes toward Animal Protection in Penghu County”designed by the researcher. The subjects are the teachers teaching on Penghu County elementary schools. 580 copies were distributed, and 434 valid responses were collected, resulting in a valid response rate of 74.63%. The collected data were analyzed using methods including descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Scheffe method, Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient. The main findings were as follows: 1. 60% of the elementary teachers' cognition toward animal protection education reaches higher level. The congnition of “the concept of animal protection education and related issues” is particularly outstanding. 2. The elementary teachers' attitude toward animal protection education is above the average level, in particularly, “the attitude toward animal protection and related content” reaches a good and positive level. 3. The background variables influence the elementary teachers' cognition toward animal protection education are the experiences of animal-raising. This factor achieve significant differences. 4. The background variables influence the elementary teachers' attitude toward animal protection education are the genders, years of teaching experience, position, locations of the schools, and the experiences of animal-raising. These factors achieve significant differences. 5. The relevance of the elementary teachers' cognition and attitude toward the animal protecion education is significent and positive.
