The developed recycling system is able to recycle the residual electric energy in used batteries. Therefore, it has the benefits of saving energy and protecting environment. The developed recycling system consists chiefly of a boost converter, voltage/current sensors and a microcontroller. Its main function is to discharge the residual energy of used batteries into health batteries. For promoting the efficiency of recycling residual energy, the constant voltage/current charging methods are implemented by a boost converter. The boost converter is controlled by an ARM 32-bit Cortex-M3 microcontroller and the techniques of analog/digital signal transformation, pulse width modulation and digital PID. A 12V/7Ah, used lead-acid battery was adopted as a test battery. The test results show that the developed recycling system surely has the ability to recycle the residual energy in used batteries. The research is useful for the energy utilization and environment protection.
