The case is an elementary school principal who won the prize of principal leadership in the Taichung city of Taiwan. Taking the science school-based curriculum as an example, this study aims to explore the factors affecting the curriculum leadership, the development of curriculum leadership and the obstacles and corresponding strategies in the curriculum leading process. This study will serve as a reference for the government to formulate education-related policies or the principals of elementary schools to lead the school-based curriculums. The conclusions of this study are as following: First, there are three influential factors that affecting principals’ school-based curriculum leadership. The factors principals’ personal factors, internal and external factors within the school. Secondly, the development of the case principal’s school-based curriculum leadership are divided into three stages: the stage of brewing germination, the stage of development and creation, the stage of stableness and cooperation. Finally, there are challenges at all stages of the case principal’s school-based curriculum leadership, however, having effective curriculum leadership strategies helps eliminate the obstacles. According to those conclusions above, the study suggests some implications of administrative authorities, elementary school principals, and further studies as well.
