The purposes of this paper are listed as below: 1. Analyze religious beliefs and educational values in both religious universities and general private universities. 2. Compare religious beliefs and educational values in both religious universities and general private universities. This paper applies a content analysis approach to conduct a qualitative analysis based on 11 religious universities and 13 general private universities. The results from this study reveal that religious universities place a significant emphasis on “educational concepts” while general private universities focus on “expectations for students”. The most obvious difference between the anthems from religious and general private universities is that anthems from religious schools convey religious thoughts while private schools rarely address those. The findings of the study can be summarized as follows: 1. Religious universities place an important emphasis on religious thoughts. 2. The primary focus for religious university is educational concepts while private universities focus on expectations for students. 3. Both religious and private universities value school identify in the same degree. 4. Both religious and private universities pay very little attention on interpreting the school name in their anthems.
