People utilize Nuo to exorcise evils, prayer and reward God. With the development of social modernization, beliefs of original religious have been affected. Since 1990, folk artists in San-Cha Town, En-Shi City, Hu-Bei Province have been adapting the scenes of the ritual and moving them to the stage, because of preserving the culture. Therefore, the Nuo has been developed. Nuo in San-Cha incorporates and integrates elements of folk Taoism and Buddhism. The Nuo inherits the characteristics of Tu-Jia folk music in the southwestern area of the mainland. Moreover, it includes local folk music such as Shua-Shua and Lian-Xiang. From the development of the ritual to the drama, with the change of the purpose and function of the performance, the adaptations of music is generated. The researcher conducted field work and data collections in this study. This thesis introduces a panoramic view of San-Cha Town, integrates the temporal context of San-Cha Culture, constructs a ritual scene, and describes current situation about promotion of Nuo. Additionally, the researcher introduces art forms such as masks, props, implements, and paintings, analyzes the basic forms of music, nuclear cavities, squeaks, and lyrics. Furthermore, the researcher outlines Huan-Yang-Nuo’s background, live recordings, and music analysis. Based on the cultural point of view, it may need to rethink the possibility for returning of the changed Huan-Yang-Nuo in music and its meaning and values of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
