The research consisted of two parts: an online questionnaire to understand the motivation and willingness of domestic freshmen as potential self- initiated expatriates and semi-structured interviews to understand their cross culture adjustment. 284 questionnaires and 18 qualified candidates were collected during this study. Findings indicate challenge, higher salary, career experiences are main motivation factors of being SIEs. A higher salary is the main factor for men than women for pursuing their career in abroad, and women have a higher willingness to become SIEs than men. SIEs usually get work from three ways: Interpersonal networks, recruitment website, participate the foreign company recruiting meeting for Taiwanese. Language proficiency was found the main factor for successful adjustments, communication with local people by using local languages can reduce unnecessary conflicts and discrimination. Weather climate was found to be the key factor for general adjustment Jaw,BIH-SHIAW 趙必孝 2018 學位論文 ; thesis 69 zh-TW
