Summary: | 碩士 === 國立屏東科技大學 === 生物機電工程系所 === 106 === The Food and Agriculture Organization, United Nations, adopted the Code of Conduct for Responsible Fisheries in 1995 to protect the sustainability on ocean resources. The code requests each country to develop its national action plan to prevent, to deter, and to eliminate illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing. Regional Fisheries Management Organizations also work on limited fisheries efforts and catch quotas to promote management. European Commission put Taiwan in pre-identification list as a non-cooperative country in combating IUU fishing from October 2015, which indicates Taiwan’s monitoring system for vessels is unable to meet international requirements. In this research, a new electronic monitoring system (EMS) was developed. The EMS consisted of image processing unit, intelligent sensors, automatic fish identification function and satellite. The main control unit encoded fishery data of catch information and system status of the EMS. The main control unit also could send these fishery data via satellite E-mail from vessel to land center. The main control unit has been tested in two fishing boats and results proved it worked successfully.
