Based on previous study, sesame asparaginyl endopeptidase (SiAP) and cysteine protease inhibitor (SiCYS) have been successfully isolated and transformed to competent cell. The predicted SiCYS structure displayed a polar contact with one of the papain active site. Meanwhile, the predicted SiAP structure showed a steric effect that blocked the SiCYS to inhibit its active site. Expression analysis of SiAP indicated that this gene was not expressed during germination.
