The responses were analyzed by descriptive statistics, One-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), independent sample t test and correlation analysis. The result findings are: (1) In terms of design preference, purchasing desire, and level of religious symbolism, the Latin-style Cross design is significantly more favorable to that of Andrew-style’s; (2) The design preference, purchasing desire, and level of religious symbolism mutually influence each other and show a significant positive relationship; (3) Males have much stronger preference of cross symbol design than females do; (4) Christians have much stronger preference of cross symbol design than non-Christians do; (5) Latin-style cross symbol design is most widely used in application.
The experience of this research shows that follow-up researches on related subjects would be benefited by expanding their target population, or focusing on specific community or groups, such as clergies, designers, foreigners, etc. to explore their design preference, purchasing desire, and religious symbolism perception. These researches may also gain advantages by expanding their background variables and analyzing the differences among various factor, or conducting in-depth interviews for qualitative research in order to expand the possibilities and further the development of the subject.
