People therefore seek for spiritual healing through having pets. Thus, the impact of loneliness has turned out to have significant benefits for business in the pet-related industry. Moreover, in our consuming culture, graphic design would dominate the customers’ first impression because of eye-catching designs of product packaging and colors. Animal hospitals have also begun to focus on visual design, especially in logos, as a core value of brand images. Therefore, improving the brand image and visual impression of an animal hospital would increase the chances of accelerating its business profits. With up-to-date surveys, and comprehensive analysis of samples, this study discusses the logo designs and color usage of animal hospitals in Taiwan, as the default references for researchers in practical studies. The following results were gathered from the analysis: 1) the use of multiple colors on animal hospitals’ logo designs is the mainstream approach nowadays. The mission of most animal hospitals is “heart-warming” and “caring,” thus, warm colors are the popular choices. However, cold colors, specifically blue, represents the image of tranquility and honesty. Some hospitals also consider using this color on their logo design. 2) Logos are mostly presented with the combination of graphics and texts, especially with the images of dogs and cats, which reflect most directly toward customers and symbolize that dogs and cats are the mainstream pet of choice in the society. Furthermore, the image of a cross emphasizes the properties of hospitalization. 3) A majority of logo design comes with shadow-layering images to present pet’s characteristics and postures. According to the data gathered from field interviews, I designed 2 Company Identity Systems (CIS) for 2 animal hospitals, ‘Moses Animal Hospital’ and ‘Kindsvet Animal Hospital.’ In addition, I created the third CIS in various forms for a virtual ‘More House Stray Animal Hospital.’ Furthermore, by presenting the logos of animal hospitals in various forms, this study would provide deliberation of design in many dimensions as well as for further references.
