Based on the job characteristic method, it has great study significance to further explore the impact of job insecurity on government organizational commitment and then predict civil servants’ commitments to government. In this study, the civil servants in departments and bureaus of Pingtung County Government were the subjects. For the purpose of sampling, 250 formal questionnaires were issued and 241 questionnaires were collected and 238 copies were valid. Data are processed and analyzed based on statistical methods including Pearson correlation, Independent Sample t test, one-way analysis of variance, regression analysis and other methods. The following are the study results: 1. The score of current job insecurity from civil servants in departments and bureaus of Pingtung County Government was the highest. It indicated that civil servants had over-averaged anxiety for the reform of pension system. 2. The employee commitment of the civil servants aged from 41-50 years old was obviously higher than the ones aged from 31-40 years old. 3. The employee commitment of the civil servants with total years of service over 21 years was obviously higher than the ones with total years of service under 5 years and 6-10 years. 4. For the civil servants with total years of service under 5 years, their job variety in skills in job characteristics was obviously higher than the ones with total years of service over 21 years. 5. The variables of supervisor positions revealed obvious differences in the job characteristics such as variety in skills, job significance and job feedback. 6. The job insecurity has an intermediary influence in the relationship between job characteristics and organizational commitment.
