This research aims to design a curriculum that applies cooperative learning strategies to courses of media literacy for junior high school students. By exploring the difficulties which are encountered during the the curriculum and developing the strategies of solving the problems, the investigator understands if there are significant distinctions after students receive the media literacy course, recording the reflection and growth of the instructors’ professional knowledge and skills. The research is conducted in the manner of action research. The project was applied in a junior high school of Fengshan District, Kaohsiung City. This study reveals the change of the students’ media literacy and their feedbacks from various learning aspects by using multiple approaches, recording observation including students’ learning journals, students’ surveys, and file analysis by the researcher and the co-researcher. During the courses of the research, the investigator developed a curriculum which applied cooperative learning strategies for teaching media literacy to junior high school students. Students partcipated and learned through the process of thinking, discussion, cooperative learning process. Furthermore, students’ perception of media also changed, so students showed critical attitude towards the authenticity of media messages, recognizing the significance of network ethics, realizing that individuals have the right to access to the media. Cooperative learning improves not only students’ cooperative skills but also their peer acceptance. The researcher’s professon of education has grown through the continuous process of reflection and action. For the future investigators and teachers of related research fields, the study elaborates the design and implementation of the teaching project, suggesting the positive solutions to the obstacles in the process of action research and the possible ways of development for the further research.
