Their work content is versatile and comprehensive, also related to citizens’ rights. Therefore, their quality of work affects people’s well-being. In the era of knowledge economy, police face more abilities, but also need to integrate scientific knowledge to meet the needs of law and security in the new era. Therefore, the recruitment, education and training of police must be cautious and worth studying. This study explores the police personality traits, the professional functions of the work and the scientific knowledge needs for the new era. Compares the police recruitment system with neighboring countries and developed countries in Europe and America, and trying to analyze the current police recruitment in Taiwan through empirical interviews. The study provide advice of police recruitment in response to social transformation. Specific conclusions and recommendations are included: Providing sufficient police recruitment information to assess your eligibility, establishing a multiple recruitment system, refining education and practical training, establishing a long-term systematization and scientifically follow-up studies and implementing lifelong learning education in response to the new era of public security. Hope that the important conclusions and recommendations of this research can make the police recruitment system more perfect.
