Summary: | 碩士 === 國立東華大學 === 自然資源與環境學系 === 106 === This study was aimed to present the biotic indices and current status of the stream aquatic insects in Taiwan, and its correlation with temporal and spatial variables. Data was collected from researches on stream aquatic insects in Taiwan. Species from collected data were compared with the catalogue of life in Taiwan, 10 species were unrecorded, distribution of these species were majorly in the Nearctic and Palearctic regions. Amongst these species, 4 species are distributed in the Oriental region in where Taiwan is located. Analysis of similarity was used to comparison of community structure with elevation, region and season. Results shown significant difference between different elevation and region, seasons only showed significant difference between summer and winter. Water quality trends from the family biotic index with elevation showed that lowland areas had higher proportions of sites that ranged from fairly poor to very poor. Regional trends of water quality showed that sites that were categorized as very poor were mostly distributed in the southern region. Results of canonical correspondence analysis showed higher percentage of explained cumulative variance by taxa-environmental relationship when divided by elevation.
