First, the modified Delphi method was used for analysis to understand the current climate in the professional field of woodworking from experts as a basis for this research. Once a consensus was met amongst the experts, an optimized training method was designed, then developed into a competency-based roadmap, further examining by which the contents of training corresponds to job competency and model of training. At this stage, the background of the contestants and their status of training are obtained to plan a competency learning chart within the ruling confines of the governing body. In the designing phase, the basis of the results of testing are formed from determining the correlation between the tasks using each task and their corresponding performance targets, which then will be put into place via training targets and learning outcomes for woodworking accordingly. In the development phase, the methods of training come to fruition, then the contestants’ learning status are evaluated through assessments conducted. The ADDIE model will consequently be implemented for use by the contestants of the 48th National Skills Competition Regional division in woodworking for training and testing purposes. Finally, Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) is used for evaluating before and after training, which shows a significant difference and improvement when comparing learning outcome. Not only does the ADDIE model shown to be effective in aiding the educator in planning a training course, it is also more specific in the implementation of training, streamlining the training model and contents, to enable the educators to improve their skills of teaching, at the same time better understanding the learning progression of the contestants, thus proving the ADDIE training model to be effective for educational planning purposes. The training as well as testing methods contained in this research was available for consideration and use by contestants of the National Skills Competition, as well as providing for technical institutions and training units of woodworking educational direction and related recommendations.
