A Study of the Relations among Learning Motivation in Geography, Learning Styles in Geography and Geographical Learning Achievement of Junior High School Students

碩士 === 國立嘉義大學 === 教育學系研究所 === 106 === The main purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships among learning motivation in geography , learning styles and academic achievement in geography. The participants were 336 junior high school students from a certain school of Yunlin County. After the participants’ grades of geographical middle exam in the second semester of 106th academic year were collected, the data were analyzed by descriptive statistic, Mean difference t test, one-way MANOVA, Pearson’s product-moment correlation. The results were as follows: 1. The learning motivation in geography of the students in value components and expectancy components is Medium below degree. 2. The learning styles of the students is that they prefer " Concrete experience " in the way they are acquired, and they prefer the " Observation & reflection " learning mode in the way of experience conversion. 3. The current performance of the student's geography learning achievement is better at answering the question that focuses on the "geographical facts" memory, while the "reading ability" is relatively poor. 4. There are significant differences in learning motivation in geography and learning styles on the basis of the students’gender and grade. The learning motivation of the female students is higher on the value components than that of the male students. The 7th graders are better in value components and expectancy components than the 8th graders. The female students are more frequent in Reflective Observation of learning style than the male students. The 7th graders are more frequent in active experimentation of learning style than the 8th graders and the 9th graders. 5. There is a grade significant difference in achievement of geography. The 7th graders are better than 8th graders and 9th graders in learning achievement. There is no gender difference in learning achievement of geography. 6. There are positive correlations among students’ learning motivation in geography, learning styles and learning achievement of geography.
