Summary: | 碩士 === 國立嘉義大學 === 教育學系研究所 === 106 === The 21st century is an era of knowledge economy, in response to the demand for talent cultivation, many countries have started education reforms, and in Taiwan somebody also suggest about corporateization of national universities. This research aims to explore and compare the reform and implementation of university corporation in the United States and Japan. It can be helpful to find the future directions of higher education in Taiwan. The academic achievements of American higher education are excellent, and its public university has a long history of corporateization; and Japan is the earliest country in Asia to implement the corporateization of national universities, which has a major impact on the development of higher education. This research mainly discusses the five aspects of the university corporation in the two countries: (1) The background of the university corporation; (2) The legal status and the relationship between the university and the government; (3) The organizational structure and the personnel system; (4) The financial system, evaluation and supervision; and (5) the operational status and the influence. Some suggestions based on the analysis and comparison between the two countries were proposed as references for higher education reform about national university corporation in Taiwan in the future.
