Summary: | 碩士 === 國立嘉義大學 === 獸醫學系研究所 === 106 === Leptospirosis is the most widespread and worldwide zoonosis. It can be transmittted between almost every mammal and marsupial through direct contact with a carrier’s urine, or through indirect contact with contaminated water and soil. Leptospiral infections in poikilothermic animals have received very limited attention. Leptospira is diagnosed using serology examination or molecular biology examination. The aim of this study is to investigate the keeped reptiles in central Taiwan and Invasive Alien Species Lizards of Chiayi and Tainan Region, for positivity of Leptospira infection. In this study, we investigate 23 pet reptiles, 157 Anolis sagrei and 34 Iguana iguana by MAT(without Anolis sagrei), LAMP and isolation(without Anolis sagrei). The MAT shows that the positivity of replies in captivity is 43.5%(10/23), wild Iguana iguana is 22.6%(7/31). The result of LAMP of replies in captivity is 0%(0/23), wild Iguana iguana is 2.94%(1/34) and Anolis sagrei 13.38%(21/157). All the attempts of leptospira isolation are failed. This study is the first to detect leptospira with positivity rate of both serology and molecular biology examination in reptiles in Asia. Our research shows that reptile have the potential to be carriers of leptospira. Some reptiles species might be able to eliminate the leptospira from their body.
