Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立嘉義大學 === 輔導與諮商學系研究所 === 106 === This study aimed to test for the association between the stability of eye movements and emotional responses in order to identify the different eye movements that occur during the expression of different emotions, and thus provide a tool with which counselors can accurately identify and evaluate the client’s thoughts and emotions. Thirty university students participanted in this study. Participants were asked to describe situations in which they had experienced anger, sadness, anxiety, and joy while their eye movements were scanned by faceLab 4.5. The recorded emotional experiences and eye movement data were analyzed using repeated measures ANOVA to determine the correlation between eye movement stability and emotional response. Results showed, firstly, that when participants described emotional experiences, their gaze significantly tended towards the left. Secondly, when participants described enjoy or angry experiences, fixation duration was significantly higher than when describing sadness. The findings demonstrate a significant association between the stability of eye movement and emotional responses, namely, that anger seems to be associated with the highest level of eye movement stability, and sadness with the lowest. These results can equip counselors with a better understanding of their clients during the counseling process.
