The previous research found that overtime work is negatively related to employees’ work and life balance. Among the service industry, the marketing and mass media industries were the most notorious for having employees overworked and underpaid. The statistics showed that, generally, the aforementioned two industries employ younger workforce, but have high turnover rate. Therefore, the main purpose of this research is to study the relationship between the work life balance and turnover intention for employees in the marketing and mass media industries. This study further investigates the moderating effect of social support for the aforementioned relationship. Using convenient sampling method, a total of 328 valid questionnaires were retrieved, including 120 from marketing sector, 208 from other industries. Statistical analyses were performed using SPSS software to test the six hypotheses developed. Results of statistical analyses were summarized as follow. 1. Comparing with respondents of other industries, respondents of marketing and mass media industries reported significant lower work-life balance and higher turnover intention. 2. For respondents of marketing and mass media industries, work-life balance is negatively related to turnover intention. 3. However, social support did not moderate the relationship between work-life balance and turnover intention. Suggestions for practical implications and future research were also provided in the current study. Wu, Me-lien 吳美連 2018 學位論文 ; thesis 59 zh-TW |
