Summary: | 碩士 === 國立嘉義大學 === 農業科技全英碩士學位學程 === 106 === Protein hydrolysate is one classification of biostimulants. Biostimulants are organic materials containing microorganisms and other substances used to stimulate plant growth by increasing nutrient uptake and enhancing plant tolerance to stress. Protein hydrolysates are the product of protein hydrolysis by enzymes, acids, alkalis or microbial fermentation. In this study, protein hydrolysates are prepared by microbial fermentation of Bacillus subtilis bacteria (B1) and Bacillus sp. Bacteria (B2). SPHs were foliarly applied to 7-day-old seedlings once a week. The results showed that SPH treatments promoted plant growth in pak-choi, spinach, cucumber and corn. SPH also increased photosynthesis process, indicated by chlorophyll and total sugar contents, and reduced nitrate accumulation. Besides, SPH treatments stimulated antioxidant enzyme activity. Interestingly, SPH treatments increased pollen viability in cucumber. Moreover, SPH reduced concentrations of hydrogen peroxidation (H2O2) and lipid peroxidation, malonaldehyde (MDA). In addition, SPH treatment greatly improved plant growth under heat stress condition.
Keyword: biostimulant, protein hydrolysate, antioxidant, heat stress.
