碩士 === 國立嘉義大學 === 中國文學系研究所 === 106 === “The History of Vases” written by Yuan Hongdao, combines the predecessor's research on flowers arrangement and the summary of personal flower arrangement experience. Besides, it represents that art of flower arrangement entering another heyday, and it is also an important literature model in the history of the world's flower arrangement in the Ming Dynasty of China. It is a floral book, a gem of the flower arrangement. The article clearly states that the concept of flower arrangement and the use of various appliances, moreover, contributing to the development of later stage flowers arrangement. As Yuan Hongdao loves the art of flower arrangement and published “The History of Vases,” the advent of this article marks the fact that the flower arrangement has entered its peak period. The main purpose of flower arrangement is to break the literati's leisure, living alone, and loneliness, and to simply express the inner world by flower arrangement with vases. It’s content includes the methods and various precautions of flower arrangement. “The History of Vases” is also a typical literati floral arrangement. The content describes flower arrangement affairs. According to its original text, it is briefly divided into twelve units as follows: The first unit: flowers, on the principles of drawing. The second unit: grade, on the grade of flower materials. The third unit: appliances, on the choice of container. The fourth unit: choose water, on the method of water supply. The fifth unit: furnishing, on the form and furnishing of flower materials. The sixth unit: Screen, on the principle of flower-shaped background collocation. The seventh unit: prohibition, on the prohibition of flower arrangements. The eighth unit: washing, on the maintenance and cleaning methods of vase. The ninth unit: character, on the collocation principle of protagonists and supporting actors in flower materials. The tenth unit: A good thing, on cultivation of flower arrangement. The eleventh unit: appreciation, on the appreciation of the art of flower arrangement. The twelfth unit: Precautions, on character of flowers and avoiding something to flowers. The main purpose of this thesis is twofold: first, sort out the version of "History of the Vases" and returned the author's original text and its literary value. Second, exploring the contents of "History of Vases", significance of literature, flower history, and folk values, and the relevant materials were expected to follow-up researchers to examine their historical position objectively. This article is summarized in the original subchapter as follows: The first chapter is the introduction, which explains the motivation and purpose of this paper, the research results of the predecessors, research scope, methods and steps. The second chapter describes the author's life profile and his works related to the creation of the "History of the vases," the political environment, and the process of learning Buddhism and Zen. The third chapter analyzes the content of "The History of Vases ". The fourth chapter analyzes the literary structure of " The History of Vases ". The fifth chapter refers to the influence of “History of Vases” on the floral art of the later generations. It refers that it influenced not only the Taiwanese flower arrangement, but also the Japanese “Yuan Hongdao” flower arrangement. "History of Vases" is full of expectation of future flower arrangement. The sixths conclusions.
