Participants were 802 seventh to ninth graders from 11 junior high school students in Taichung City. Data were collected using questionaires assessing the personal background information, the HEXACO personality inventory and learning engagement inventory. Descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson Product-Moment correction, and multiple regression analysis were applied to analyze the data. The major findings were as follows. First, junior high school students in Taichung have highest scores on Humility-Honesty and the lowest scores on Conscientiousness. Second, there are significant differences in different dimensions of personality traits in terms of students' school location and gender. However, there are no significant differences in different dimensions of personality traits in terms of grade. Third, junior high school students have highest scores on behavioral engagement and the lowest scores on agentic engagement. Fourth, there are significant differences in different dimensions of learning engagement in terms of gender. However, there are no significant differences in different dimensions of learning engagement in terms of school location and grade. Fifth, all dimensions of personality traits are positively associated with all dimensions of learning engagement. Finally, partial personality traits dimensions can significantly predict four different dimensions of learning engagement. Based on the results of the study, some suggestions for school, teachers, and parents were proposed, and recommendations for further studies were offered. 王智弘 2018 學位論文 ; thesis 164 zh-TW
