Occupational accidents not only lead to casualties but also increase construction costs. The main cause of occupational accidents is unsafe behaviors which are affected by human cognitions and working environment. In the analysis of occupational accident cases, the "decision making" is found to be the most important factor of the five cognition factors. Therefore, this research aims at reducing the occupational accident rates by addressing unsafe behavior problems from the perspective of decision making, and focuses on discussing the relationship between decision making and unsafe behaviors. In this research, the questionnaires about decision making style and decision making ability are used to assess the decision making cognition performance of construction engineers whereas the safety behavior assessment questionnaire is used to evaluate their degree of safety behavior cognition. Statistical analysis is then used to investigate the relationship between decision making style, decision making ability and the awareness of safety behaviors. The statistical analysis result shows that decision making style and safety behavior are not significantly related while safety behavior is strongly corelated with decision making ability. In addition, most of the construction engineers are directive style decision makers, who have poor performance in safety behaviors. Therefore, we can focus on engineers with directive decision-making style to effectively manage potential unsafe behaviors. Han-Hsiang Wang 王翰翔 2018 學位論文 ; thesis 110 zh-TW
