Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立交通大學 === 環境工程系所 === 106 === DIY green garden/roof (DIYGreen) kits developed by this research group have been used outside. Modern people spend most of their time indoor, and thus indoor air quality (IAQ) is important. Some plants can effectively improve IAQ, lower indoor temperature, and save energy. This study was thus initiated to develop recycled bottle based DIY assembly kits for growing IAQ plants. Solidworks is used to design the DIY kits and to implement the associated stress simulations. According to the structural stress simulation results, the maximal stress is 5.678e+004N/m2, less than the yield stress of Polypropylene (PP), and should not cause permanently deform. Appropriate usage and operation procedures are essential for developing successful DIY kits and thus they are carefully explored and established. Five indoor IAQ plants were selected to test the developed kits, attached with four big or small bottles. Digital thermo hygrometers were used to monitor the temperature and humidity of the indoor planting environment. The average daily water consumption rate of for different plants were 7.51-22.40 cm3 for the big bottle sets and 5.59-22.05 cm3 for the small bottle sets. Water in four big bottles are expected to be used at least 96 days, while that for four small bottles can be used at least 28 days. Several fabrics were selected to cover and beautify the bottles. The kits perform well for planting and does not leak. An Ardunio-based IoT kit, with sensors and a WiFi environment, was also developed to monitor soil temperature and moisture and to automatically add water when the soil moisture is too low. The developed kits are capable for growing IAQ plants and provide smart IoT device to facilitate planting.
