Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立交通大學 === 管理科學系所 === 106 === Taiwanese semiconductor industry not only maintains a leading position in the world, but also is an important pillar of Taiwan's economic development. As technology advances, semiconductor companies have become more and more competitive. There was no lack of researches of Taiwanese semiconductor industry in the past, but less researches of global semiconductor companies in Taiwan. However, foreign semiconductor companies with larger scale and more advanced technology are also competitors. To maintain a leading position in this environment and continue to operate, the business performance is the key. Thus, this research is based on the information of global main semiconductor companies. In this research, I used the data envelopment analysis (DEA) as a tool. Based on the concept of efficiency, I classified the data by input items and output items. The efficiency is equal to the total output divided by total input, and the objective is maximizing efficiency. There are many different models in DEA. I used CCR model and BCC model and used super efficiency model further to analyze the business performance of the global main semiconductor companies. The data included total assets, operating costs, R&D costs, number of employees, revenue, net income and EPS of the companies from 2013 to 2017. According to the average efficiency of five years, Toshiba’s efficiency was the best and Intel was second under CCR model; Toshiba’s efficiency was the best and NVIDIA was second under BCC model. Based on the analysis, the research explained the companies whose operating performance were better and worse. Companies can also refer to the results of the research to make adjustments on the output and input ratio.
