Summary: | 碩士 === 國立交通大學 === 電子物理系所 === 106 === This thesis presents several optical experiments to explore the generation of high order transverse modes in optically pumped semiconductor lasers (OPSLs). OPSLs were developed widely in recent years. The characteristics, which are the combination of semiconductor lasers and solid-state lasers, make OPSLs reach the diversity of output wavelengths, high output power, and excellent beam quality. However, the phenomenon and mechanisms remain to be studied. In this thesis, we will observe the high order eigenstates in the spherical laser cavity by incident pumping, and utilize the basis of eigenstates derived from the solution under paraxial approximation to reconstruct the formations of patterns numerically. We also employ the cylindrical lens as a mode converter to transform the high order eigenstates, and successfully reconstruct the observed eigenstates via theoretical calculation of SU(2) transformation. According to the serial research, we are able to understand the formation of high order transverse modes in OPSLs.
