In live perfor-mances of pop music bands, stage arrangement, sound reinforcement systems and stage lighting are closely linked with one another to complete the presentations. Stage lighting plays a crucial role to enhance the performance of music and build up the atmosphere. Synchronized with the tempo in music to give audience another immediate sensory inter-pretation of music, it is mostly achieved by stage lighting operators manually manipulat-ing the lighting console. With the limits of manual manipulation, real-time audio pro-cessing can help obtain precise synchronization. In this research, different approaches to synchronization of lighting and music on the stage were listed and the procedures of real-time audio processing was discussed. The objective and purpose of synchronization of lighting and music were clarified afterward. For practical application, to aid lighting operators, the study proposed a console system adjusted to different live performances, that was consisted of audio processing interfaces constructed by Max/Msp and integrated with different software and hardware, for syn-chronization of lighting and music.
