Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立交通大學 === 建築研究所 === 106 === The design methodology in this thesis aims to review how to observe, understand, interpret, and reshape the world by mapping. It eventually focus on architectural design. Since architects and cartographers are experts using maps to communicate with others. They project their imagination on the maps, which are able to construct the future. The subjects in case studies are the attempts and mapping skills of maps in a broad sense, such as the general map, architectural drawing, scroll, painting, and so on. This thesis establishes a new cognitive coordination of mapping thought constructed by four quadrants which is “Wayfaring, Anchoring, Coordinating, Expanding” in sequence. Those are one of mapping skills and also can operate together. The value of the coordination is to examine the thinking context and progress between my projects, then become the stepping stone of next design development. The Sixth Chapter in introduction is a guide map of this thesis concluded previous five chapters and overview in following projects. On the topic, using the word “Act” rather than “Art” is more real and active. “Mapping” means an act of making a map and also somehow ongoing status. This thesis attempts to mapping a map of mapping in order to aware of finding answers and exploring why.
